Post Campaign Update-- Late Pledges and Possible Expansion
over 5 years ago – Mon, Dec 28, 2020 at 09:26:32 AM

All,

We have put up our Backerkit site for late pledges for those of you who did not get a chance to join us during the campaign. All late backers will also receive the 16 full-art cards and the foil stretch goal.

We have been in touch with the manufacturer this morning, and we are well on our way to delivering Paragon! We are also working with them to see if we can offer a mini-expansion and/or the expanded Avatars. If possible, we will put them up on our Backerkit page for pre-order as well.  We are working hard to make this happen!

As we continue to promote and advertise Paragon, we are hoping to build our audience and player base. We want to see Paragon flourish, and we appreciate your continued aid in getting the word out and helping us find more backers!

Thanks again to all of you for your support.  We'll be sending out surveys in about 10 days or so, and we will keep you updated every step of the way!

You can find the pre-order/late backer page here:

Stretch Goal Reached!
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 24, 2020 at 03:27:22 PM

We are down to the final couple hours, and we just wanted to put out one more update before the close of the campaign to express our appreciation. We've had a fair number of pledges in the past few days, which has unlocked our first stretch goal--foil cards! We're going to put up another stretch goal for $9,000 that will include new Avatar cards, just in case something crazy happens in the next hour or two.

This campaign has been has been both incredibly rewarding and eye-opening. We have learned a lot from the feedback you all have offered, and will put that advice to good use in the coming months as we begin manufacturing. Rest assured that we will be hard at work every day making sure Paragon gets into your hands ASAP. Look forward to more updates as we make progress on the manufacturing front.

We are deeply grateful that so many of you have recognized Paragon for its art and gameplay. This would not have been possible without all of your support. We wish you all a happy holiday season and new year, and we look forward to putting Paragon in your hands early in 2021!

Only a Few Days Left!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 23, 2020 at 06:52:12 PM

It's hard to believe that Paragon's Kickstarter campaign is nearly over, as this last month has been a whirlwind! We could not be more excited to have achieved our funding goal, and it looks like we will have a strong finish. Thanks to those of you who supported us early. Also, thanks to those watching the campaign so you could jump in during these final days.

We are hard at work, reaching out and promoting Paragon so we can finish strong. The moment the campaign ends, we are set to begin the manufacturing process to get the game in your hands as quickly as possible. We are focusing on delivering high-quality components that match the caliber of the visuals you've already seen with Paragon, and we think you will all be pleased with the quality of the final game and its components.

It isn't easy to express the depth of our gratitude for you all seeing the full value in our vision.  We have been enthusiastic card game players the majority of our lives, so Paragon is both an homage to the genre and an attempt at creating something new and different. We continue to be struck by the idea that something that leaps from your mind can be molded into a creation that has meaning and brings joy to others. It isn't too much to say that there is a bit of magic in the creative process and ultimately delivering a finished product.

So, not for the last time, thank you for believing in Paragon.

Celebrating 100 Backers
over 5 years ago – Thu, Dec 17, 2020 at 11:37:50 PM

Today we hit an important milestone in the campaign. One hundred of you have decided to back Paragon, and we cannot thank all of you enough! We are truly excited by the thought of players all over the world enjoying the game. It is amazing that so many people have come together to make this dream a reality, and we intend to demonstrate our thanks by delivering a unique, high-quality card game.

With about a week remaining in the campaign and over 120% in funding, we are looking at a strong finish. If you decided to follow us to see how the campaign does, now would be the perfect time to become a backer. Either way, thank you all again for the huge amount of support.

$6,000 Milestone, Artist Appreciation
over 5 years ago – Wed, Dec 09, 2020 at 06:28:59 AM

As we pass $6,000 in funding, we want to take some time to thank all of you for supporting us, as well as show our appreciation to some of the artists who helped bring Paragon to life. The future of the game looks bright thanks to all of you.

From the beginning of Paragon's design, we knew that we wanted to capture the serious, high fantasy aesthetic that many of us enjoy in other card games, such as Magic: The Gathering. Artists like Matt Forsyth, Olga Volkova, and Stephanie Gustafsson delivered exactly that--stunning pieces that we strongly believe to rival even the best art in other games.

We love what Matt Forsyth does with humanoids, which is why his work was key for influencing the Avatar portraits in the game. Above you can see an example of how he updated the "Rendar" illustration during development. We asked him to brighten the image a bit to give Rendar a more mystical look, as well as highlight his rune tattoos and bring more color to his eyes and weapon hilt (since he is Brutality/Chronomancy).

It was quite a challenge to find equipment illustrations that were not only high quality, but also did not include humanoid figures. We wanted the focus of the art to be on the equipment itself, rather than whoever was wearing it, so we hired Olga Volkova to create several equipment-only pieces. Her style fits perfectly with Paragon, and we could not be happier.

Over 20 artists have produced the beautiful art in Paragon, but Stephanie Gustafsson deserves high praise for the impact her work has had on the overall visual theme. She is responsible for the game's logo, as well as the template art on the cards (the "UI") and the rulebook graphics. Early in development, we tried to create the logo and the template art ourselves. A simple glance should show you exactly how much Stephanie's work improved the game's look as a whole.

Paragon could not exist without the help from people like our artists and backers. Thank you so much for your continued support. We will post another update soon!
